Organización mayangna entrega ayuda a mujeres indígenas en la Costa Caribe Norte
La organización de mujeres indígena Mayangna con el apoyo de la Alianza Mesoamericana Pueblo y Bosque, así como la organización Tree Water & People, entregaron ayuda humanitaria a mujeres indígenas en cuatro territorios indígenas mayangnas de la Costa Caribe Norte.
María Cristina Feliciano, presidenta de la organización de mujeres indígenas de la nación Mayangna, dijo que con el apoyo de dos organizaciones lograron llevar ayuda consistente en paquetes alimenticios, semilla de frijoles, así como medicamentos y nebulizador para atender a las familias indígenas en Sikilta en Siuna, pero también la entrega se hizo en otros tres territorios indígenas más.
La líder indígena dijo que en total fueron atendidas 600 mujeres con paquetes alimenticios y 580 con semillas de frijoles en los territorios indígenas Manayagna Sauni As, Mayagna Sauni Arungka, Mayangna Amasau, Mayangna Sauni bas.
La ayuda esta dirigida para atender a las viudas, a las ancianas y a las mujeres productoras con la semilla de frijoles porque es la que están sembrando ahorita.
Las mujeres indígenas de Sikilta agradecieron la ayuda humanitaria que recibieron ya que los dos huracanes Eta e Iota dejaron severos daños a la comunidad y perdieron sus cultivos y la ayuda que les dieron les llego en un momento de mucha necesidad.
Indiana Taylor Labonte dijo que la organización de mujeres de la nación mayangna siempre les ha venido apoyando a las mujeres indígenas y por ello agradeció a las organizaciones que han apoyado para que tengan las semillas y los paquetes de alimentos.
Mayra Charly Indalecio, indígena de Sikilta dijo que recibieron medicamentos y un nebulizador que será usado por los niños y niñas de la comunidad, ahora ya no tendrán que viajar hasta Siuna para nebulizar a los niños y adultos, sino que lo harán en la comunidad.
Magdalena Palacio Diaz presidenta de la organización de mujeres de Sikilta AMIS, de Sikilta agradeció a las dos organizaciones que les apoyaron con la ayuda humanitaria, ya que necesitan mucha ayuda para paliar las necesidades de las mujeres indígenas.
Mayangna organization delivers aid to indigenous women on the North Caribbean Coast
The Mayangna indigenous women’s organization, with the support of the Mesoamerican Pueblo y Bosque Alliance, as well as the Tree Water & People organization, provided humanitarian aid to indigenous women in four Mayangna indigenous territories of the North Caribbean Coast.
María Cristina Feliciano, president of the indigenous women’s organization of the Mayangna nation, said that with the support of two organizations they managed to bring aid consisting of food packages, bean seeds, as well as medicines and a nebulizer to serve indigenous families in Sikilta in Siuna, but the delivery was also made in three other indigenous territories.
