Envían Merienda Escolar reforzada a zonas afectadas por huracanes
La caravana de Merienda Escolar reforzada fue en enviada este martes con 32 mil quintales de alimentos, como parte del plan de atención y respuesta a comunidades más afectadas por los huracanes Eta y Iota.
El Ministro Asesor en temas de Educación, Salvador Vanegas, expresó el apoyo del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) bajo la coordinación del Sistema Nacional para la Prevención y Atención de Desastres (Sinapred) para el envío de la Merienda Escolar reforzada para 200 mil niños y niñas de preescolar, educación primaria regular y multigrado y la primaria y secundaria a distancia en el campo.
“Aproximadamente están saliendo 32 mil quintales de alimentos que contienen arroz, frijoles, cereal, harina de trigo, maíz, sal y aceite son enviados a 15 municipios de 2 mil 400 centros educativos ubicados en la Costa Caribe Norte, en el sector minero, Nueva Segovia, Tolas, Rivas y Jinotega”, dijo Vanegas.
El funcionario expresó que estos alimentos son recibidos por los Comités de Alimentación Escolar, los que los almacenan, resguardan y les aplican todas las medidas de bioseguridad que corresponde, además prepararlos y entregarlos a los niños con todas las condiciones, medidas y protocolos en los cuales han sido capacitados por medio del Programa Integral de Nutrición Escolar del PINE-Mined.
“Cumplimos con esta instrucción de seguir garantizando el Plan de Atención y Respuesta trasladando estos alimentos”, dijo Vanegas.
Vanegas dijo que, como parte del plan, también se garantiza la atención en infraestructura escolar, “rehabilitación de los centros escolares, dotación de mobiliarios, dotación de paquetes escolares, textos escolares, garantizando el derecho a la educación en cualquier contexto y circunstancia”.
Georgia Testolin, representante del Programa Mundial de Alimentos en Nicaragua, acompañará las caravanas y visitará centros de estudios, donde se reciben estos alimentos.
“Como Programa Mundial de Alimentos estamos en esta fase 2 de la respuesta a los huracanes Eta y Iota, trabajando estrechamente con Sinapred y con el gobierno de Nicaragua, para apoyar a la población más golpeada en los municipios, que ya se mencionaron. Esta fase 2 prevé un refuerzo de la merienda escolar, una fase importante porque el centro de la respuesta es la escuela. Un sistema de protección social y con este tipo de respuesta se puede expandir a nivel vertical porque ahora será un desayuno y almuerzo y una expansión horizontal, porque cubrirá más municipios”, dijo.
La funcionaria expresó que este reforzamiento de merienda, es importante para el aporte nutricional de los niños, niñas y adolescentes, apoyando a las familias que se recuperan en esta fase difícil de recuperación de los huracanes.
En sus palabras, agradeció a la comunidad internacional que ha apoyado esta respuesta, a los donantes, “y gracias al Ministerio de Hacienda y Crédito Público (MHCP) hemos firmado un convenio con el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, que va a focalizar la respuesta de refuerzo a la merienda escolar”.
Por su parte el doctor Guillermo González, Ministro Director del Sistema Nacional para la Prevención, Mitigación y Atención de Desastres (Sinapred), dijo que el despegue de esta caravana de alimentos, es un paso más, de ese esfuerzo que hace el gobierno de recomponer la vida de estas familias que se vieron afectadas directamente por los huracanes.

The official stated that these foods are received by the School Feeding Committees, which store, protect and apply all the corresponding biosecurity measures, in addition to preparing and delivering them to the children with all the conditions, measures and protocols in which they have been trained through the PINE-Mined Comprehensive School Nutrition Program.
«We comply with this instruction to continue guaranteeing the Attention and Response Plan by moving these foods,» said Vanegas.
Vanegas said that, as part of the plan, attention to school infrastructure is also guaranteed, «rehabilitation of schools, provision of furniture, provision of school packages, school texts, guaranteeing the right to education in any context and circumstance.»
Georgia Testolin, representative of the World Food Program in Nicaragua, will accompany the caravans and visit study centers, where these foods are received.
“As the World Food Program, we are in phase 2 of the response to hurricanes Eta and Iota, working closely with Sinapred and with the Nicaraguan government, to support the most affected population in the municipalities, which have already been mentioned. This phase 2 foresees a reinforcement of the school lunch, an important phase because the center of the response is the school. A social protection system and with this type of response can be expanded vertically because now it will be a breakfast and lunch and a horizontal expansion, because it will cover more municipalities, ”she said.
The official said that this reinforcement of the snack is important for the nutritional contribution of children and adolescents, supporting families that are recovering in this difficult phase of recovery from the hurricanes.
In his words, he thanked the international community that has supported this response, the donors, “and thanks to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (MHCP) we have signed an agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank, which will focus the response of reinforcement of the school snack ”.
For his part, Dr. Guillermo González, Minister Director of the National System for the Prevention, Mitigation and Attention of Disasters (Sinapred), said that the take-off of this food caravan is one more step in the effort made by the government to rebuild the lives of these families who were directly affected by the hurricanes.
