En una comparecencia pública del alcalde de Siuna Otilio Duarte Herrera, acompañado de las autoridades políticas del FSLN en Las Minas, Jose Luis Solórzano y Noel Espinoza, así como el Monseñor Pablo Schmitz, administrador apostólico de la Diócesis de Siuna, el padre Carlos Zuniga, y el padre Flavio Murillo vicario General de la Diócesis de Siuna entregó un cheque por la suma de un millón de córdobas para comenzar con el techo de la catedral de la Diócesis de Siuna.

El alcalde destaco que uno del sueño que tuvo el monseñor David Zywiec Sidor en vida fue terminar la catedral y hoy con la presencia espiritual de Monseñor David, el gobierno municipal de Siuna hace entrega oficial de ese compromiso con el monseñor David y con la Iglesia Católica.
