Muere embajadora del palo de mayo Miss Lizzie Nelson en Bluefields

La embajadora del Palo de Mayo murió en Bluefields, justo en el momento en que siempre brillo con sus movimientos al ritmo del palo de mayo, Miss Lizzie Nelson a los 99 años en la ciudad de Bluefields, Caribe Sur de Nicaragua.

Elizabeth Forbes conocida cariñosamente por el pueblo costeño como «Lizzie Nelson» se destacó desde niña bailando el palo de mayo, fue maestra de danza e instructora del palo encintado.

Nació el 11 de diciembre de 1922, en el barrio Punta Fria de Bluefields, cerca del antiguo cementerio donde descansan los restos de los primeros misioneros moravos que llegaron al caribe a evangelizar.

Sus familia cuido el cementerio viejo que ya no estaba en uso y es de ese ejemplo que Miss Lizzie aprendió de su familia que se debe preservar la historia y cuidar lo que hemos tenido para que lo conozcan las nuevas generaciones.

Miss Lizzie quiso ser enfermera para cuidar a los enfermos de su comunidad pero como su familia no tenía los recursos económicos necesarios se convirtió en maestra de generaciones.

Los domingos, dio clases de forma voluntaria en la escuela dominical, para educar a los niños y niñas de su congregación.

Al terminar la década de los años veinte, cuando era una niña, una señora la llevo a ver en el patio de la iglesia anglicana, el baile de cinta (palo encintado), desde entonces prometido que al crecer ella bailaría ese baile, lo cual cumplió, pero además, cuido preservo y lo promovió.

Miss Lizzie fue creadora y directora de dos grandes grupos de danza, el IVE e HILDA AIDA, grupos que en sus tiempos de gloria llevaron la cultura e idiosincrasia de los pueblos del Caribe Sur a muchos departamentos del país.

El programa de revitalización cultural que ejecuto el Gobierno de Nicaragua con apoyo de España, dejo como resultado un documento cultural donde Miss Lizzie Nelson hizo un aporte importante que quedara para las generaciones futuras, cuando hizo la presentación de ese documento que aborda sus memorias, danzas y tradiciones culturales de la Costa caribe, dijo “Urge rescatar la cultura costeña”.

Miss Lizzie Nelson, murió este dos de mayo justamente baile del palo encintado en cada esquina de la ciudad, no pudo ser en otra fecha sino en la misma que le dio gloria en vida hoy también le da gloria y será recordada para siempre por la comunidad del Caribe nicaragüense.

Miss Lizzie wanted to be a nurse to care for the sick in her community, but since her family did not have the necessary financial resources, she became a teacher for generations.

On Sundays, she volunteered classes in Sunday school to educate the boys and girls in her congregation.

At the end of the twenties, when she was a child, a lady took her to see in the courtyard of the Anglican church, the tape dance (palo enintado), since then she promised that when she grew up she would dance that dance, which He complied, but also, I take care of preserving and promoting it.

Miss Lizzie was the creator and director of two great dance groups, IVE and HILDA AIDA, groups that in their glory days brought the culture and idiosyncrasy of the peoples of the South Caribbean to many departments of the country.
