Tigres de Chinandega y Costa Caribe serán los contendores de la serie número cuatro de los Playoffs del Campeonato German Pomares 2020, llamada a ser una de las series más intensas de esta etapa.

Pese a dar de baja a uno de sus principales brazos como lo es Ernesto Glasgon, la Costa Caribe incorpora en su rotación de abridores al leones Fidencio Flores quien pese a no haber tenido una de sus mejores temporadas sigue siendo un brazo fiable a nivel nacional. Mario Vargas llega para defender la antesala y dar profundidad al bateo costeño tras su buen actuar en Boaco y Carazo.

La Costa Caribe afronta así su quinta seria de cuartos de final. En su primera aparición en 2015 dejó en el camino al Frente Sur Rivas en cuatro partidos (3-1) con Junior Téllez como artificie de par de victorias ante los sureños.

En la temporada de 2016, volvió a necesitar de 4 compromisos para dejar fuera esta vez a los Cafeteros de Carazo (3-1). En 2017 sucumbieron por primera vez en esta instancia al caer derrotados ante Estelí en 5 juegos (3-2)

En 2019 fueron barridos (3-0) por los Indios del Bóer 7-4, 5-4 y 10-8 respectivamente para sumar su segunda serie perdida de forma consecutiva.

En sus cuatro apariciones anteriores en materia ofensiva, acumulan 158 imparables, 11 cuadrangulares, 99 carreras anotadas, 101 ponches recibidos y average colectivo de .295. Fidencio Flores al servicio de León acumula 8 aperturas en cuartos de final con balance de 6-0, 45 imparables sin cuadrangulares, le anotan 16 carreras de ellas 11 limpias y lanza para 2.63. Wilfredo Pinner en 3 juegos, 2 fueron en calidad de abridor, lanza para 0.98 con 11 hits, 2 cuadrangulares y 5 carreras permitidas de ellas 2 limpias

CHINANDEGA DARÁ BATALLA

La tropa dirigida por las ex grandes ligas Vicente Padilla, finalizó la temporada como líder en efectividad colectiva con 3.34 por encima de Dantos y León.

Para Chinandega será su primera aparición en etapa de cuartos de final. Padilla no optó por pitcheo como refuerzo pues deposita su confianza en los brazos de Walter López, Jesús Garrido y Luis Somarriba para hacer frente a la poderosa artillería caribeña.

Ante la Costa Caribe, Garrido y López cargaron con la derrota, solamente Somarriba salió sin decisión. Garrido fue el abridor que mayor trabajo registró ante los caribeños al lanzar 6 episodios de 7 hits, 1 jonrón, 5 ponches y 3 limpias.
