Protestas en Sisin por elecciones territoriales

Un grupo de personas mantienen una protesta con un tranque en Sisin, para presionar a las autoridades a realizar elecciones en el territorio indígena Yahbra Twi, pero ayer fue retenido por más de una hora el lider miskito Stedman Fagoth, quien afirmó que algunos de los manifestantes con gorras de Yatama pedían quemar la camioneta, amarrarlo y mantenerlo como rehén en ese lugar.

De acuerdo a diversas fuentes consultada por Sistema de Noticias del Caribe este año hubo una convocatoria para elecciones en Boom Sirpy, donde participaron Fresly Llanes y Felipe Mitchell, en esa época los comunitarios del territorio no estaban de acuerdo con el proceso electoral.

Otro sector consultado dijo que se hizo el proceso electoral en Boom Sirpy y fue electo en esa ocasión Fresly Llanes y perdió Felipe Mitchell.

Otra fuente dijo a SNC que la asamblea para la elección no se dió en Boom Sirpy y allí se creó una comisión para consultar el mecanismo y la propuesta electoral, la inconformidad radica en que la eleccion se ha venido posponiendo en tres períodos.

Las comunidades cuestionan la autoridad de Fresly en vista que él ha dado marcha a otras en la defensa del territorio y han documentado la reubicación de colonos expulsado en noviembre del 2014 por avales otorgados por Fresly Llanes.

Un medio local de Bilwi señala que un candidato de Yatama perdió las elecciones y el candidato del FSLN gano el proceso electoral.

Elizabeth Henríquez, del directorio de Yatama negó que su partido índígenas esté detrás de la protesta y el tranque en Sisin, pero afirmó que los comunitarios tienen derecho a defender sus derechos comunitarios.

Stedman Fagoth Muller, lider miskito dijo que después de una hora decidió regresar a Waspam, pero que hubo posiciones fuertes de violencia en ese lugar donde hay unas 100 personas que se han vuelto violentas.

También destacó que en el tranque los manifestantes sabían que la alcaldesa de Waspam Rose Cuningham viajaría hacia Puerto Cabeza y sería una de las personas que mantendrían como rehén en el lugar para exigir las elecciones territoriales.

“Hay que hacer elecciones territoriales que es la columna vertebral donde descansa el poder, pero cuando se va a hacer hay que pensarla bien porque ahorita bajo presión, no acepto ningún calendario a base de presión, aunque yo no soy del Consejo Regional no lo monto” afirmó Fagoth Muller.

Para el lider miskito ahorita estamos entre la espada y la pared con las inundaciones en el Caribe y la prioridad del Gobierno debe ser la comida, hay una situación que se debe atender a la población que están con todos sus cultivos perdidos y aún hay comunidades bajo agua y la prioridad es mantener a esta gente y olvidarnos de elecciones, reitero el lider miskito.

Otras fuentes consultadas en Bilwi señalaron que en la Costa Caribe hay dos partidos políticos que han intervenido en las elecciones de los territorios índígenas, pero el que inició con esta práctica fue Yatama, ya que ellos consideraban que los territorios índígenas eran parte de su base politica.

La fuente señaló que cuando Yatama estaba en el Consejo Regional ellos entregaban la certificación a quienes ellos querían y luego esa práctica la comenzó a hacer el FSLN muy recientemente, porque antes el partido sandinista no se metía en eso dijo nuestra fuente.

Para nuestra fuente, lo correcto sería dejar que las comunidades índígenas hagan sus eleciones sin que haya intervención de ningún partido político en la Costa Caribe para dejar esa Autonomia a los territorios y las comunidades para que sean ellos quienes decidan, pero siempre hay detrás algún partido político.

En el Caribe nicaragüense, existen varios gobiernos, uno es el comunal, el segundo es el territorial, el municipal y el regional, cada uno tiene su propio ámbito de acción, y su objetivo es lograr el mayor beneficio para las poblaciones de la Costa Caribe.

A local media in Bilwi indicates that a Yatama candidate lost the elections and the FSLN candidate won the electoral process.

She also stressed that at the roadblock the protesters knew that the mayor of Waspam Rose Cuningham would travel to Puerto Cabeza and would be one of the people who would be held hostage at the site to demand territorial elections.

“You have to make territorial elections, which is the backbone where power rests, but when you are going to do it you have to think about it because right now under pressure, I do not accept any pressure-based calendar, although I am not from the Regional Council, I do not mount it. Fagoth Muller affirmed.

For the Miskito leader, right now we are between a rock and a hard place with the floods in the Caribbean and the priority of the Government must be food, there is a situation that must be attended to the population who are with all their lost crops and there are still communities under water and the priority is to keep these people and forget about elections, reiterated the Miskito leader.

Other sources consulted in Bilwi indicated that in the Caribbean Coast there are two political parties that have intervened in the elections of the indigenous territories, but the one that initiated this practice was Yatama, since they considered that the indigenous territories were part of their political base. .

The source pointed out that when Yatama was in the Regional Council they gave the certification to whoever they wanted and then the FSLN started doing this practice very recently, because before the Sandinista party did not get involved, our source said.
