They consult with producers from La Cruz de Rio Grande

They hold a consultation workshop for private producers in La Cruz de Rio Grande on the benefit distribution plan within the framework of the plan to reduce emissions from deforestation.

The workshop was conducted by officials from ENDE REDD (MARENA), RACCS and the Regional Secretariat of Natural Resources of the Regional Government of the South Caribbean.

This program seeks to conserve forests, promote alternative agroforestry systems so that communities work on carbon capture and the non-emission of other gases that cause activities that are harmful to the environment, explained Ricky Monroe, Territorial Coordinator of the ENDE REDD Project.

The Cooperative Fund for Forest Carbon will pay to conserve forests, the initiative and strategy that consists of capturing 11 million tons of carbon dioxide, for this, the program promotes the participation of actors involved in the reduction processes of emissions caused by deforestation and forest degradation, especially indigenous communities and other communities that depend on forests, said the territorial coordinator of the ENDE REDD RACCS Project in his presentation.

The producers stated that the project is very important since they will be able to plant trees, reforest their lands to guarantee the conservation of the environment.

The producers pointed out that they can become aware of how bad deforestation is, which brings with it many negative effects for the environment and for humans.

Prior to the meeting, the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Regional Government, gave talks on the prevention of COVID-19, taking all security measures.
