Llega ayuda humanitaria a Haití desde Chile y Venezuela

(Prensa Latina) Haití recibió hoy un cargamento de ayuda humanitaria proveniente de Chile para atender las urgencias de miles de víctimas del terremoto que sacudió su zona sur, y dejó hasta el momento mil 297 fallecidos.
Al menos 16 toneladas de alimentos, insumos médicos, agua y otros artículos fueron descargados en el aeropuerto internacional Toussaint Louverture, de esta capital, por la Dirección de Protección Civil.

La víspera, las autoridades recibieron otras 30 toneladas del Gobierno venezolano de Nicolás Maduro, que también anunció el envío de equipos de rescatistas y de asistencia médica, así como la activación de la Fundación Venezolana de Investigaciones Sismológicas, para evaluar otros despliegues en atención a las necesidades del pueblo haitiano.

Otros países como Costa Rica y Panamá expresaron su intención de trasladar ayuda humanitaria, para socorrer a los necesitados.

El pasado sábado un terremoto de magnitud 7,2 devastó la zona sur de Haití, destruyó numerosas infraestructuras sanitarias, docentes y religiosas, además de más de 13 mil viviendas.

El primer ministro, Ariel Henry, prometió actuar con mayor celeridad para gestionar la ayuda a las víctimas, algunas de las cuales aun se encuentran bajo los escombros, en momentos en que se acerca la depresión tropical Grace.

‘Vamos a multiplicar por 10 nuestras energías para llegar, en términos de asistencia, al máximo número de víctimas posible’, anunció el jefe de Gobierno, que recorrió las zonas afectadas por el sismo.

Humanitarian aid arrives in Haiti from Chile and Venezuela

Haiti today received a shipment of humanitarian aid from Chile to attend to the emergencies of thousands of victims of the earthquake that struck its southern area, leaving 1,297 dead so far.

At least 16 tons of food, medical supplies, water and other items were unloaded at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, in this capital, by the Civil Protection Directorate.

The day before, the authorities received another 30 tons from the Venezuelan government of Nicolás Maduro, which also announced the dispatch of rescue teams and medical assistance, as well as the activation of the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research, to evaluate other deployments in attention to the needs of the Haitian people.

Other countries such as Costa Rica and Panama expressed their intention to transfer humanitarian aid to help those in need.

Last Saturday a 7.2 magnitude earthquake devastated the southern area of ​​Haiti, destroyed numerous health, educational and religious infrastructures, as well as more than 13 thousand homes.
