Nana se convierte en huracán, amenaza costas de Belice, Guatemala y sur de México.
La tormenta tropical Nana se convirtió la noche del miércoles en huracán y se esperaba que toque tierra en las próximas horas en la costa de Belice, para luego avanzar sobre Guatemala y descargar fuertes lluvias al sur de México, dijo el Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC) de Estados Unidos.
A las 10.00 hora local (0300 GMT del jueves) Nana se ubicaba a unos 95 kilómetros al sureste de Ciudad de Belice con vientos máximos sostenidos de 120 kilómetros por hora (km/h) y se desplazaba hacia el oeste a 16 km/h, de acuerdo a datos del NHC.
«Datos de una aeronave cazadora de huracanes de la fuerza aérea indican que Nana se ha convertido en huracán», dijo el NHC en un comunicado. «Se espera que llegue a tierra a lo largo de la costa de Belice durante la noche».
El aviso de huracán comprendía, hacia el sur, desde la costa de Belice hasta la frontera entre ese país y Guatemala. Y, hacia el norte, hasta la frontera Belice-México.
Para la costa norte de Honduras, la franja caribeña de Guatemala y el sur de México, donde se ubican concurridos destinos turísticos como Cancún y Playa del Carmen, el aviso era de tormenta tropical.
En las Islas de la Bahía, en el Caribe hondureño, Nana dejó fuertes lluvias a su paso.
Recomendaciones: a la población en general se le recomienda precaución y mantenerse informada sobre el pronóstico meteorológico que emitan las autoridades, con el fin de tomar las medidas preventivas adecuadas.
A la navegación marítima y aérea; pesca artesanal y deportiva, se les recomienda evaluar las condiciones atmosféricas y oceanográficas, antes de realizar sus actividades, así como, atender a las recomendaciones de las autoridades.
Nana becomes a hurricane, threatening the coasts of Belize, Guatemala and southern Mexico.
Tropical Storm Nana became a hurricane on Wednesday night and was expected to make landfall in the next few hours off the coast of Belize, then advance over Guatemala and dump heavy rains in southern Mexico, said the National Hurricane Center (NHC ) from the United States.
At 10:00 local time (0300 GMT Thursday) Nana was located about 95 kilometers southeast of Belize City with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (km / h) and was moving west at 16 km / h, according to NHC data.
«Data from an air force hurricane chaser aircraft indicates that Nana has become a hurricane,» the NHC said in a statement. «It is expected to make landfall along the coast of Belize overnight.»
The hurricane warning included, towards the south, from the coast of Belize to the border between that country and Guatemala. And, to the north, to the Belize-Mexico border.
For the north coast of Honduras, the Caribbean fringe of Guatemala and southern Mexico, where popular tourist destinations such as Cancun and Playa del Carmen are located, the warning was for a tropical storm.
In the Bay Islands, in the Honduran Caribbean, Nana left heavy rains in her wake.
