Liberan cuajipal en hacienda Altamira de Siuna

El Ministerio de Recursos Naturales MARENA, en articulación con URACCAN Las Minas, realizaron la liberación a su hábitat natural de un reptil que fue macheteado por pobladores del barrio Pedro Joaquín Chamorro, el pasado sábado 12 de septiembre, y fue atendido por un médico veterinario que realizo varias operaciones al cuajipal para salvarlo de la muerte en Siuna, Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Norte.

El inspector departamental del Marena ing. Norlan López expresó que el reptil fue rescatado luego que pobladores del barrio Pedro Joaquín Chamorro les llamaran para informar que estaba el animal con heridas profundas causadas por arma blanca.

“Desde ese día se hizo coordinación para suturar al reptil y hoy se libera en un habitad natural en la hacienda Altamira propiedad de Enrique Urbina” agregó el funcionario.

Carlos Hitler Sánchez médico veterinario dijo que el sábado fue llamado por el Ing. Omar Soza del Marena para suturar al cuajipal y se aplicaron ocho puntadas a nivel externo y a nivel interno 10 a 15 puntadas

“Le aplicamos antibiótico el sábado y el lunes le volvimos aplicar antibiótico, además de medicamento para el dolor y la infección, hoy lo estamos liberando ya que en cautiverio el cuajipal no quería comer” manifestó.

El médico señalo que el cuajipal al ser liberado no presento ningún problema y sobrevivirá en ese ambiente natural para él.

Así mismo recomendó a la población a no hacerles daño y llamar a las autoridades para que ellos se hagan cargo del animal, ya que estos animales no son agresivos y no representan ningún peligro.

Enrique Urbina, propietario de la hacienda Altamira dijo que es un honor tener este tipo de reptil en su finca, ya que él tiene habilitadas 8 lagunas donde año con año nacen decenas de lagartos y cuajipales.

Del mismo modo, el Ingeniero Luis Herrera Siles, manifestó que esta es una articulación, con las autoridades enfocadas en la protección y conservación de la flora y la fauna.

URACCAN como parte de su misión y visión establece el compromiso de velar por el cuido y protección de la Madre Tierra, desde su proceso de acompañamiento a la comunidad acompañó a las autoridades del Marena en la liberación del espécimen.

Carlos Hitler Sánchez veterinary doctor said that on Saturday he was called by Eng. Omar Soza del Marena to suture the cuajipal and eight stitches were applied externally and 10 to 15 internally.

«We applied antibiotics to him on Saturday and on Monday we applied antibiotics again, as well as medicine for pain and infection, today we are releasing him since in captivity the cuajipal did not want to eat,» he said.

The doctor pointed out that the cuajipal when released did not present any problem and will survive in that natural environment for him.

He also recommended the population not to harm them and call the authorities so that they take care of the animal, since these animals are not aggressive and do not represent any danger.

Enrique Urbina, owner of the Altamira farm, said that it is an honor to have this type of reptile on his farm, since he has enabled 8 lagoons where dozens of lizards and cuajipales are born every year.

Similarly, Engineer Luis Herrera Siles, stated that this is a joint, with the authorities focused on the protection and conservation of flora and fauna.
