Ministra de Salud visita comunidades severamente afectadas por huracanes Iota y Eta

La Ministra de Salud de Nicaragua, la doctora Martha Reyes visitó las comunidades más afectadas por los huracanes Eta y Iota, con el fin de evaluar la situación actual en temas de salud.

La ministra de salud y asesora presidencial en temas de salud, realizó una visita por dos de las comunidades más afectadas por los huracanes Eta y Iota, en la costa Caribe Norte de Nicaragua; las comunidades visitadas fueron Wawa Bar y Karata.

La doctora Reyes reafirmó el compromiso del Gobierno de Nicaragua en atender a las comunidades afectadas por los fenómenos naturales que golpearon fuertemente la costa Caribe nicaragüense en menos de 15 días  y que en su paso dejó afectaciones en todo los sectores.

“Es necesario garantizar la atención, las condiciones de higiene, la calidad de agua segura para consumo humano”, además señaló que los fenómenos naturales dejan consecuencias en la salud de las familias “Después de estas situaciones, los aspectos de las medidas preventivas son claves para evitar otras enfermedades, sobre todo las diarreicas, las respiratorias y de la piel por estar en contacto directo con la humedad”.

Otros pasos

El objetivo de la visita de la ministra fue conocer el panorama de salud en estas comunidades, asimismo, evaluar los daños ocasionados en las infraestructuras de salud por estos dos fenómenos. “En esta ocasión lo que andamos haciendo es una evaluación en la situación de salud, una evaluación en las condiciones de nuestras infraestructuras y ver de qué manera podemos fortalecer la atención que brindaremos en estas comunidades”, resaltó la doctora Reyes.

La evaluación ayudará a que el Ministerio de Salud prepare adecuadamente al personal de salud que acompañará a las familias en estas comunidades, se espera que en los próximos días las familias puedan ser trasladadas a sus comunidades, siempre con el acompañamiento de las autoridades, con el fin de iniciar el proceso de limpieza y reconstrucción de dichas comunidades.

The Nicaraguan Minister of Health, Dr. Martha Reyes, visited the communities most affected by hurricanes Eta and Iota, in order to assess the current health situation.

The health minister and presidential advisor on health issues, made a visit to two of the communities most affected by hurricanes Eta and Iota, on the North Caribbean coast of Nicaragua; the communities visited were Wawa Bar and Karata.

Dr. Reyes reaffirmed the commitment of the Nicaraguan Government to serve the communities affected by the natural phenomena that hit the Nicaraguan Caribbean coast strongly in less than 15 days and that in their wake left effects on all sectors.

«It is necessary to guarantee care, hygiene conditions, the quality of safe water for human consumption», he also pointed out that natural phenomena leave consequences on the health of families «After these situations, aspects of preventive measures are key to avoid other diseases, especially diarrheal, respiratory and skin diseases due to being in direct contact with humidity ”.

Other steps

The objective of the minister’s visit was to learn about the health panorama in these communities, as well as to assess the damage caused to health infrastructures by these two phenomena. «This time what we are doing is an evaluation of the health situation, an evaluation of the conditions of our infrastructures and see how we can strengthen the care that we will provide in these communities,» highlighted Dr. Reyes.

The evaluation will help the Ministry of Health to adequately prepare the health personnel who will accompany the families in these communities, it is expected that in the coming days the families can be transferred to their communities, always with the accompaniment of the authorities, with the in order to start the process of cleaning and rebuilding these communities.
