MLR Forestal entrega donación a iglesia católica de Siuna

Tras la emergencia del huracán Iota que recientemente afectó la región de la Costa Caribe Norte, MLR Forestal continúa apoyando a las comunidades localizadas en esta región. Con ese propósito entregó un donativo de USD 2,000 a la iglesia católica de Siuna, el cual fue recibido por el Obispo Pablo Schmitz, administrador apostólico de esta diócesis.

Durante la entrega de esta donación se conversó con la autoridad religiosa acerca de la inversión de MLR en el Caribe, la cual contribuye a dinamizar la economía local y representa la mayor oportunidad de acceso a empleos de calidad a las comunidades cercanas a sus operaciones.

Monseñor Schmitz enfatizó su satisfacción por el aporte que ha brindado MLR Forestal a las comunidades del Caribe Norte en respuesta a la crisis sanitaria por la Covid19 y los recientes huracanes ETA e Iota, acontecidos durante las tres primeras semanas de noviembre.

En ese sentido, Monseñor Schmitz también expresó su agrado por la generación de empleos que MLR Forestal brinda a los comunitarios de los municipios de Siuna y Bonanza, así como su aporte para la preservación y cuido del medioambiente, a la vez que envió su agradecimiento y bendiciones a directores, gerentes y todo el personal que labora para MLR.

“Estamos muy contentos con la reunión sostenida con Monseñor Schmitz, quien durante el encuentro mostró mucho interés por el tema de la promoción del cacao y el programa pequeños productores que impulsa MLR. Se le comentó el trabajo social que realiza MLR en las comunidades de Siuna y Bonanza, basado en un relacionamiento respetuoso que permite la participación de todas las partes interesadas”, manifestó Luis López, Gerente de Desarrollo Sostenible de MLR Forestal.

Este acercamiento con el obispo de Siuna muestra el interés por parte de MLR Forestal de mantener buenas relaciones y comunicación con la feligresía local y sus autoridades. En continuidad de este apoyo, próximamente la empresa entregará una donación de madera para las bancas de la catedral que se encuentra en etapa de construcción.

Este año MLR Forestal ha brindado un apoyo a las comunidades cercanas a su operación superior a los 85 mil dólares, de los cuales 50 mil dólares donó en junio de este año para promover una campaña de prevención frente al COVID-19 que incluyó la entrega de kits sanitarios a centros de salud y hospitales de la zona, comunidades mestizas e indígenas y familiares de colaboradores. 

Igualmente, en noviembre ha entregado más de 35 mil dólares distribuidos en distintos momentos entre las comunidades afectadas por los huracanes Eta e Iota. Este apoyo ha sido canalizado a través de gobiernos indígenas de distintas comunidades, entregas directas, organismos de trabajo humanitario que operan en la región y la diócesis de Siuna.

“MLR Forestal tiene muy buenas relaciones con todas las comunidades cercanas a sus operaciones, especialmente los Gobiernos Indígenas Territoriales con quienes mantenemos una relación de apoyo mutuo para impulsar acciones que permitan su desarrollo y bienestar, especialmente en este tipo de situaciones como las que acaban de enfrentar”, apuntó López.

MLR Forestal delivers donation to Siuna Catholic Church

Following the emergence of Hurricane Iota, which recently affected the North Caribbean Coast region, MLR Forestal continues to support the communities located in this region. For this purpose, he gave a donation of USD 2,000 to the Catholic Church of Siuna, which was received by Bishop Pablo Schmitz, apostolic administrator of this diocese.

During the delivery of this donation, a conversation was held with the religious authority about MLR’s investment in the Caribbean, which contributes to boosting the local economy and represents the greatest opportunity for access to quality jobs in the communities near its operations.

Monsignor Schmitz emphasized his satisfaction with the contribution that MLR Forestal has provided to the communities of the North Caribbean in response to the health crisis caused by Covid19 and the recent hurricanes ETA and Iota, which occurred during the first three weeks of November.

In this sense, Monsignor Schmitz also expressed his pleasure for the generation of jobs that MLR Forestal provides to the community members of the municipalities of Siuna and Bonanza, as well as its contribution to the preservation and care of the environment, at the same time that he sent his gratitude and blessings to directors, managers and all the personnel that work for MLR.

“We are very happy with the meeting held with Monsignor Schmitz, who during the meeting showed great interest in the issue of cocoa promotion and the small producers program promoted by MLR. He was told about the social work carried out by MLR in the Siuna and Bonanza communities, based on a respectful relationship that allows the participation of all interested parties, ”said Luis López, Sustainable Development Manager of MLR Forestal.

This approach with the bishop of Siuna shows the interest on the part of MLR Forestal in maintaining good relations and communication with the local parishioners and their authorities. In continuity with this support, the company will soon deliver a donation of wood for the benches of the cathedral, which is currently under construction.

This year, MLR Forestal has provided support to the communities close to its operation of more than 85 thousand dollars, of which 50 thousand dollars donated in June of this year to promote a prevention campaign against COVID-19 that included the delivery of sanitary kits to health centers and hospitals in the area, mestizo and indigenous communities and family members of collaborators.

Likewise, in November it has delivered more than 35 thousand dollars distributed at different times among the communities affected by hurricanes Eta and Iota. This support has been channeled through indigenous governments of different communities, direct deliveries, humanitarian work agencies that operate in the region and the diocese of Siuna.

“MLR Forestal has very good relations with all the communities close to its operations, especially the Territorial Indigenous Governments with whom we maintain a relationship of mutual support to promote actions that allow their development and well-being, especially in these types of situations, such as those that have just occurred. face, ”said López.
