Nuevo relevo generacional: Caminando firmes en la calidad educativa de la Costa Caribe

La Universidad de las Regiones Autónomas de la Costa Caribe Nicaragüense (URACCAN), lleva a cabo una sesión extraordinaria del Consejo Universitario (CUU), en donde se abordó como punto de agenda principal la elección de las nuevas autoridades interinas, para los cargos de Rectoría y Vicerrectoría General de esta casa de estudios superiores interculturales. El cambio se suscita posterior a que la Dra. Alta Hooker presentara su carta de renuncia como rectora de esta Institución ante el CUU, por problemas de salud.

Nuevas autoridades designadas

En este sentido, se ha designado con voto unánime del CUU, como nueva rectora a la maestra Ilenia Garcia, quien  dirigía Cooperación Externa y vicerrector general al maestro Víctor Zúniga, quien desempañaba el cargo de director de Innovación y Emprendimiento.

Por su parte, la ahora rectora de URACCAN, Ilenía Garcia declaró seguir caminando firme en el fortalecimiento educativo de esta institución en beneficios de las comunidades multiétnicas de la Costa Caribe y aseguró que URACCAN continuará sobre esa ruta colectiva que garantiza la excelencia institucional.

“Estamos aquí con todas las fuerzas que hemos aprendido en el camino, con esa misma responsabilidad y ese mismo amor a las comunidades, seguiremos trabajando en el Modelo de Universidad Comunitaria Intercultural”, detalló la maestra Garcia.

Por su parte, el maestro Victor Zuniga, comparte que la Dra. Hooker deja un gran legado de esfuerzo, amor, dedicación y liderazgo y que se continuará trabajando con base a esa sintonía, que ha hecho de URACCAN una universidad con calidad, encaminados hacia la excelencia.  

“Hoy es un hito histórico, puesto que una mujer líder, nos deja todo un legado que ha estado centrado en el fortalecimiento de la Autonomia en el desarrollo con identidad, en busca del Buen Vivir de todos los pueblos indígenas y afrodescendientes, no solo en la Costa Caribe, sino a nivel nacional e internacional”, dijo el maestro Zúniga.

Durante el mandato de la Dra. Alta Hooker, URACCAN se posicionó a nivel internacional como la Primera Universidad Comunitaria Intercultural en América Latina, Hooker en sus palabras de agradecimiento, expresó, que está segura que este nuevo relevo generacional guiará a esta casa del conocimiento hacia la calidad y excelencia.

New generational change: Walking firmly in the educational quality of the Caribbean Coast

The University of the Autonomous Regions of the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast (URACCAN), holds an extraordinary session of the University Council (CUU), where the election of the new interim authorities, for the positions of Rectory, was addressed as the main agenda item and General Vice-Rectory of this house of intercultural higher studies. The change arises after Dr. Alta Hooker presented her letter of resignation as rector of this Institution to the CUU, due to health problems.

In this sense, with a unanimous vote of the CUU, teacher Ilenia Garcia, who directed External Cooperation, and general vice-rector, teacher Víctor Zúniga, who held the position of director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, have been appointed as the new rector.

For her part, the now rector of URACCAN, Ilenía Garcia declared that she would continue to walk firmly in the educational strengthening of this institution for the benefit of the multi-ethnic communities of the Caribbean Coast and assured that URACCAN will continue along this collective route that guarantees institutional excellence.

«We are here with all the strength that we have learned along the way, with that same responsibility and that same love for the communities, we will continue working on the Intercultural Community University Model,» explained teacher Garcia.

For his part, Professor Victor Zuniga shares that Dr. Hooker leaves behind a great legacy of effort, love, dedication and leadership and that work will continue based on that harmony, which has made URACCAN a quality university, aimed at the excellence.

“Today is a historic milestone, since a woman leader leaves us a legacy that has been focused on strengthening Autonomy in development with identity, in search of Good Living for all indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, not only in the Caribbean Coast, but at a national and international level”, said Master Zúniga.

During the tenure of Dr. Alta Hooker, URACCAN was positioned internationally as the First Intercultural Community University in Latin America, Hooker in her words of thanks, expressed that she is sure that this new generational change will guide this house of knowledge towards quality and excellence.
