Marena y Uraccan entregan alimentos a monos congos afectados por los dos huracanes en Siuna

Después del paso de dos huracanes por el Caribe Norte, los animales silvestres han quedado sin hábitat y sin alimentación, muchos de ellos muchos de ellos murieron pero otros luchan por sobrevivir, por ello la universidad URACCAN y el Marena, les llevaron alimentos en Siuna, Caribe Norte.

Saúl Castillo delegado del Marena en el Caribe Norte dijo que en articulación con la universidad URACCAN y el diputado Enrique Urbina que dono bananos, se dispusieron a atender a una colonia de doce congos que quedaron en un árbol sobreviviendo después del paso de los huracanes.

En la comunidad del Ojo de Agua a 30 kilómetros de Siuna, una colonia de monos congos están pernoctando en el único árbol que quedo de pie, esta era su casa y todo el entorno fue destruido, no tienen habitad y alimentación.

El delegado del Marena dijo que con orientaciones del Comandante Daniel y la compañera Rosario, así como de la ministra del Marena Sumaya Castillo, se han dado a la tarea de darle seguimiento al comportamiento de la fauna en el territorio y articulados con las instituciones y la universidad             URACCAN trabajan en concientizar a los productores de la región para que no maten a los animales.

El funcionario dijo que hay personas mal intencionadas que se dedican a la compra de estos especímenes y en cautiverio pierden su libertad, por ello llamo a la ´población a alimentar a los animales que no tienen donde vivir ni donde alimentarse porque todo fue arrasado.

“Nos hemos encontrado con una diversidad de fauna en estado crítico, hemos enco0ntrado loras, tucanes, incluso encontramos un tapiar, un danto, en la comunidad de Mongallo, algo que fue sorprendente en el patio de una casa, gracias a Dios se logró que se devolviera al tapir a su habitando”. Comentó Castillo.

Hoy con el apoyo de la reserva silvestre privada Altamira, el diputado Enrique Urbina que dono bananos para alimentar a los monos congos, se logró llevar alimentos a estos animales.

Luis Herrera Siles, de la Universidad URACCAN dijo que desde las primeras horas se coordinó con el diputado Enrique Urbina, se logró tener alimentos para llevarles a los monos congos, que tienen más de 20 días de estar sobreviviendo en la comunidad del ojo de agua.

Herrera Siles llama a la población a proteger a los animales que andan desconcertadas por la pérdida de su hábitat natural y ahora solo queda cuidar la biodiversidad que es responsabilidad de todos.

The Marena delegate said that with guidance from Commander Daniel and companion Rosario, as well as the Minister of Marena Sumaya Castillo, they have undertaken the task of monitoring the behavior of the fauna in the territory and articulated with the institutions and the URACCAN university works to raise awareness among producers in the region so that they do not kill animals.

The official said that there are ill-intentioned people who are dedicated to buying these specimens and in captivity lose their freedom, so he called on the population to feed the animals that have nowhere to live or where to feed because everything was destroyed.

“We have found a diversity of fauna in critical condition, we have found parrots, toucans, we even found a tapiar, a tapir, in the community of Mongallo, something that was surprising in the courtyard of a house, thank God it was achieved that the tapir was returned to its dwelling ”. Castillo commented.

Today with the support of the Altamira private wildlife reserve, Congressman Enrique Urbina, who donated bananas to feed the howler monkeys, was able to bring food to these animals.

Herrera Siles calls on the population to protect the animals that are bewildered by the loss of their natural habitat and now the only thing left to do is take care of biodiversity, which is everyone’s responsibility.
