Listo acuerdo con Honduras para erradicar malaria
Funcionarios del Ministerio de Salud de Nicaragua y de la Secretaria de Salud de Honduras, firmaron un acuerdo binacional para la implementación de acciones conjuntas de vigilancia, control y atención entre ambas fronteras para la eliminación de la malaria, basado en el Derecho Comunitario Centroamericano.
La ministra de salud, Martha Reyes, afirmó que es un compromiso del Gobierno eliminar dicha enfermedad y proteger a la población, sobre todo en el área en que se encuentra la mayor afectación, para lo cual se trabaja de forma integral con la red comunitaria.
En tanto, su homóloga hondureña reconoció que juntos, Honduras y Nicaragua, “avanzaremos en este gran objetivo de eliminar la malaria. Uniendo esfuerzos para atacar a un enemigo común (…) vinculando, articulando esfuerzos y uniendo todas las estrategias que tenemos vamos a lograr resultados positivos”.
El acuerdo contempla la complementariedad en la atención de casos en los puntos fronterizos, asegurar la existencia de los tratamientos antimaláricos y las Pruebas de Diagnóstico Rápido (PDR) e integración de la Red Comunitaria en Prevención y Comunicación de casos en las Comunidades de difícil acceso o que no hay presencia cercana de personal de Salud.
Se realiza a través de la Iniciativa Regional para la Eliminación de la Malaria (IREM), la Secretaria Ejecutiva del Consejo de Ministros de Salud de Centroamérica y República Dominicana (COMISCA) y OPS/OMS, entre otros.
Agreement with Honduras ready to eradicate malaria
Officials from the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health and the Honduran Ministry of Health signed a binational agreement for the implementation of joint surveillance, control and care actions between both borders for the elimination of malaria, based on Central American Community Law.
The Minister of Health, Martha Reyes, affirmed that it is a commitment of the Government to eliminate this disease and protect the population, especially in the area where it is most affected, for which it works in an integral way with the community network.
Meanwhile, her Honduran counterpart acknowledged that together, Honduras and Nicaragua, “we will advance in this great objective of eliminating malaria. Uniting efforts to attack a common enemy (…) linking, articulating efforts and uniting all the strategies we have, we are going to achieve positive results ”.
The agreement contemplates complementarity in the care of cases at border points, ensuring the existence of antimalarial treatments and Rapid Diagnostic Tests (PDR) and integration of the Community Network on Prevention and Communication of cases in Communities with difficult access or that there is no nearby presence of health personnel.
It is carried out through the Regional Initiative for the Elimination of Malaria (IREM), the Executive Secretary of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (COMISCA) and PAHO / WHO, among others.
