Mural costeño embellece Bonanza en el 35 aniversario de su fundación
En el marco del 35 aniversario de la elevación de Bonanza a la categoría de municipio y del 50 aniversario de Mineros S.A, autoridades de esta empresa y la alcaldía municipal, inauguraron la segunda etapa del mural «Orgullosamente mineros». La obra es un homenaje al origen minero de la ciudad, sus raíces culturales, flora y fauna plasmados a lo largo de 100 metros, lo que la convierte en el mural más grande del Caribe nicaragüense.
El mural fue realizado por el artista costeño Augusto Silva en colaboración con estudiantes y artistas locales. Para Andrés Mesa, vicepresidente de Operaciones de HEMCO Mineros Nicaragua, la obra embellece el entorno por lo que invita a los pobladores a apreciarla y cuidarla; además, fomenta la participación comunitaria y preserva la identidad cultural, lo que reafirma el compromiso de la compañía con el desarrollo de Bonanza.
El Ing. Gregorio Downs Rocha, alcalde de Bonanza, destacó el esfuerzo conjunto de la comuna y de HEMCO Mineros Nicaragua, “un vecino estratégico, que ha sabido tomar la estafeta para juntos construir parte de la historia de Bonanza, en coordinación con el Plan de Ordenamiento y Desarrollo Urbano».
La pintura fue elaborada en una hilera de cinco losetas pertenecientes al muro perimetral de HEMCO Mineros Nicaragua, ubicadas a la entrada de la ciudad. La tercera y última etapa de este mural está proyectada para el 2025, momento en que alcanzará los 150 metros, consolidando su récord del mural más grande de la Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua.
Entre los jóvenes artistas que colaboraron con la obra, destaca Sauby Palacios, de origen mayangna, quien de la mano del maestro Silva, aplicó las técnicas de ilustración geométrica y neocubismo a imágenes de la minería, la naturaleza y actividades cotidianas de las comunidades indígenas, que fueron los temas de inspiración.
Bonanza es el centro de la actividad minera en la Cosa Caribe de Nicaragua y se le conoce como “La reina de la montaña por sus altos cerros y relieves irregulares. Ésta fue declarada municipio el 6 de octubre de 1989 y fue elevada a ciudad en el 2019; su población multiétnica, integrada por mayangnas, misquitos y mestizos, supera los 52 mil habitantes.
Coastal mural beautifies Bonanza on the 35th anniversary of its foundation

The mural was made by coastal artist Augusto Silva in collaboration with students and local artists. The painting was made on a row of five tiles belonging to the perimeter wall of HEMCO Mineros Nicaragua, located at the entrance to the city. The third and final stage of this mural is projected for 2025, when it will reach 150 meters, consolidating its record for the largest mural in the Autonomous Region of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.
