Presentan el proyecto Minamata en Triángulo Minero
Con el objetivo de reducir el uso del mercurio, el Gobierno de Nicaragua por medio de la Dirección general de Minas del Ministerio de Energía y Minas MEM, realizó la presentación del proyecto Minamata, con el cual se realizará una serie de acciones que permitirá la implementación de estrategia con nuevas tecnologías para la recuperación del oro, en el Triángulo Minero y los demás distritos mineros del país.
Lo anterior fue explicado a las cooperativas de los mineros artesanales, mineros independientes de los municipios de Bonanza, Rosita y Siuna, por Norman Henríquez Blandón director de la dirección general de Minas del Ministerio de Energía y Minas de nicaragua.
El funcionario explico que primero se realizara un diagnostico que permita conocer la cantidad de mineros que existen en el país y la cantidad de mercurio que utilizan, para después hacer un plan de acción que permitan la reducción del uso del mercurio.
Henríquez Blandón dijo que Nicaragua es un gobierno que firmo el convenio internacional para pa reducción del uso del mercurio junto a otros 143 países y con el programa Minamata se busca alcanzar el objetivo de cero usos del mercurio en el país.
José Luis Solorzano delegado presidencial para el Triángulo Minero, Prinzapolka Mulukuku y Paiwas, dijo que han hecho un recorrido por los municipios de Bonanza, Rosita y Siuna, en el lanzamiento del proyecto Minamata, que es una mandato el presidente y la vicepresidenta Daniel Ortega y Rosario Murillo, para que se trabaje una estrategia integral para disminuir y erradicar el uso del mercurio en el país.
El alcalde de Bonanza Alexander Alvarado Lam dijo que no se trata de desaparecer a los mineros artesanales, sino que se busca unirnos para trabajar con sistemas amigables con el medio ambiente.
Por su parte del alcalde de Siuna Otilio Duarte dijo que el proyecto busca evitar la contaminación, para las familias evitar la contaminación de los ríos porque allí toma agua el ganado.
Ervin Roque minero artesanal de Siuna dijo que el programa reducirá el riesgo de tener enfermedades ´producto del uso del mercurio, pero también dijo que este producto es muy escaso por ello es importante buscar nuevas alternativas.
Mas de 20 mil mineros artesanales en el caribe norte están buscando en los próximos años estrategias para reducir el mercurio.
They present the Minamata project in the Mining Triangle
In order to reduce the use of mercury, the Government of Nicaragua, through the General Directorate of Mines of the Ministry of Energy and Mines MEM, presented the Minamata project, with which a series of actions will be carried out that will allow the implementation strategy with new technologies for the recovery of gold, in the Mining Triangle and the other mining districts of the country.

Henríquez Blandón said that Nicaragua is a government that signed the international agreement to reduce the use of mercury together with 143 other countries and with the Minamata program it seeks to achieve the goal of zero mercury use in the country.

Ervin Roque, an artisanal miner from Siuna, said that the program will reduce the risk of having illnesses as a result of the use of mercury, but he also said that this product is very scarce, so it is important to look for new alternatives.
More than 20 thousand artisanal miners in the North Caribbean are looking for strategies to reduce mercury in the coming years.
