Secuestran a indígenas en territorio AMASAU
José Felipe Cornelio y su esposa Genoveva Frank, fueron secuestrados por un grupo armado a las 5:00 p.m. de este sábado 4 de enero 2020 y se presume fueron llevados hacia las montañas de ese territorio indígena del Caribe Norte.
Autoridades indígenas indicaron que Cornelio había hecho una serie de denuncias ante la Policía Nacional por la apropiación ilegal de las parcelas y áreas comunales por personas ajenas a la comunidad.
Las autoridades comunitarias consideran que este secuestro está relacionado por los problemas de propiedad colectiva del territorio indígena AMASAU.
El secuestro se dio en la finca Kililing de la comunidad de Awastingni, ubicada aproximadamente a 13 kilómetros de la comunidad hacia arriba del Río Wawa.
Los líderes comunitarios aseguraron que la Policía Nacional lleva dos años realizando las investigaciones correspondientes en el territorio AMASAU y hasta ahora no tienen un informe conclusivo, para recurrir al tratamiento de la jurisprudencia.
Asimismo indicaron que acordaron con las autoridades de la Policía Nacional movilizar hacia el territorio una unidad de Auxilio Judicial a la comunidad y por otras razones no se logró hacer efectivo.
Indigenous kidnapped in AMASAU territory
José Felipe Cornelio and his wife Genoveva Frank, were kidnapped by an armed group at 5:00 p.m. This Saturday, January 4, 2020 and it is presumed they were taken to the mountains of that indigenous territory of the North Caribbean.
Indigenous authorities indicated that Cornelio had made a series of complaints before the National Police for the illegal appropriation of parcels and communal areas by people outside the community.
The community authorities consider that this kidnapping is related to the problems of collective ownership of the indigenous territory AMASAU.
The kidnapping occurred at the Kililing estate of the Awastingni community, located approximately 13 kilometers from the community upstream of the Wawa River.
The community leaders assured that the National Police has been carrying out the corresponding investigations in AMASAU territory for two years and so far they do not have a conclusive report, to resort to the treatment of jurisprudence.
They also indicated that they agreed with the authorities of the National Police to mobilize a unit of Judicial Assistance to the community to the territory and for other reasons it was not effective.
