Carretera y energía llevan alegría y desarrollo a indígenas de Sikilta

Dos proyectos importantes para el desarrollo comunitario en el territorio indígena Mayangna Sauni Bas, llevo el Gobierno de Nicaragua en la comunidad de Sikilta único territorio indígena en Siuna, en la Región Autónoma de la Costa caribe Norte.

Dionicio Jarquin líder comunitario de Sikilta, dijo que hoy en día la comunidad vive contenta con los dos proyectos la carretera y la energía eléctrica, pues ahora están disfrutando algo que sus antepasados no pudieron hacer, “hoy estamos cambiados en Sikilta” afirmo Jarquin.

Hoy los comunitarios de Sikilta estamos viviendo nuevos tiempos pues, la carretera desde Siuna hasta Sikilta está en buenas condiciones y hoy viajan en vehículo hasta la comunidad.

Nosotros como indígenas y pueblo Mayangna agradecemos al Gobierno de Nicaragua por su misión y el compromiso de llevar la luz eléctrica a las comunidades indígena, la luz eléctrica la tenemos y la carretera la tenemos, afirmo Jarquin.

Indiana Taylor Labonte líder comunitaria de Sikilta dijo que tiene un especial agradecimiento al presidente Daniel Ortega y la vicepresidenta Rosario Murillo por estos dos proyectos y por eso están luchan y apoyando al Gobierno de Nicaragua.

Llegar a Sikilta era una odisea, de Siuna se salía hacia la comunidad de Uly de allí se tomaba un bote o se continuaba a pies sobre la rivera del rio y toaba unas tres a cuatro horas llegar a esa comunidad.

Hoy eso ya es historia, pero una historia muy reciente por que el Gobierno de Nicaragua llevo el proyecto de carretera desde el Gobierno Municipal de Siuna con el cual se puso fin a casi dos siglos de aislamiento.

Sikilta es la cabecera del territorio indígena Mayangna Sauni Bas que la conforman por ocho comunidades que se encuentra en la reserva Bosawas, en el caribe Norte.

Road and energy bring joy and development to indigenous people of Sikilta

Two important projects for community development in the Mayangna Sauni Bas indigenous territory, led the Government of Nicaragua in the community of Sikilta, the only indigenous territory in Siuna, in the Autonomous Region of the North Caribbean Coast.

Dionicio Jarquin, community leader of Sikilta, said that today the community lives happily with the two projects, the highway and the electric power, because now they are enjoying something that their ancestors could not do, «today we are changed in Sikilta,» said Jarquin.

Today the community of Sikilta are living in new times because the road from Siuna to Sikilta is in good condition and today they travel by vehicle to the community.

We as indigenous people and the Mayangna people thank the Government of Nicaragua for its mission and commitment to bring electricity to indigenous communities, we have electricity and we have the road, said Jarquin.

Indiana Taylor Labonte community leader of Sikilta said that he has a special thanks to President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo for these two projects and that is why they are fighting and supporting the Government of Nicaragua.

Getting to Sikilta was an odyssey, from Siuna you left for the community of Uly, from there you took a boat or continued on foot on the river bank and it took about three to four hours to get to that community.

Today that is history, but a very recent history because the Government of Nicaragua led the road project from the Municipal Government of Siuna with which almost two centuries of isolation ended.

Sikilta is the head of the Mayangna Sauni Bas indigenous territory that is made up of eight communities that are located in the Bosawas reserve, in the North Caribbean.
