Territorios del Caribe Sur preservarán tortugas verdes
Durante la V sesión ordinaria del Consejo Regional Autónomo del Caribe Sur los regidores aprobaron este jueves por unanimidad la resolución técnica de la comisión permanente de Recursos Naturales (SERENA), sobre la actualización del sistema de consumo con fines de subsistencia de las tortugas verdes en los territorios de Awaltara, Tasba y Marshall Point.
La sesión fue realizada en la comunidad de Halover, del municipio de Laguna de Perlas, en conmemoración a los 224 años de la resistencia de los pueblos garífunas.
Durante la actividad la directora Hebbe Machado, de la Secretaría de los Recursos Naturales del Gobierno Regional, hizo la presentación sobre la importancia de la conservación de la tortuga verde.
“El Gobierno de Nicaragua ha buscado otras alternativas para sustentar a las familias que sobreviven de la tortuga verde y entre ellas están los proyectos como NICAPESCA, a través de este proyecto se podrá regular la captura de tortuga, ya que tendrán otras forma de sustentar a las familias y a su vez concientizar a los comunitarios”, manifestó el coordinador de Gobierno Lic. Rubén López.
South Caribbean territories will preserve green turtles
During the V ordinary session of the Autonomous Regional Council of the South Caribbean, the councilors unanimously approved this Thursday the technical resolution of the permanent commission of Natural Resources (SERENA), on updating the system of consumption for subsistence purposes of green turtles in the Awaltara, Tasba and Marshall Point territories.
The session was held in the community of Halover, in the municipality of Laguna de Perlas, in commemoration of the 224 years of the resistance of the Garífuna peoples.
During the activity, the director Hebbe Machado, from the Secretariat of Natural Resources of the Regional Government, made a presentation on the importance of the conservation of the green turtle.
The Government of Nicaragua has sought other alternatives to support the families that survive from the green turtle and among them are projects such as NICAPESCA, through this project it will be possible to regulate the capture of turtles, since they will have other ways of supporting the families and at the same time raise awareness among the community ”, stated the Government coordinator Lic. Rubén López.
