Mercedes Robleto, de 40 años, murió ahogada cuando fue arrastrada por las corrientes al intentar cruzar el caño Siawás, en el municipio La Cruz de Río Grande, en el Caribe Sur.

Testigos del hecho dijeron que los ríos habían crecido por las lluvias que cayeron el pasado lunes y martes, a consecuencia de un fenómeno meteorológico que dejó precipitaciones en gran parte del país.

Los testigos dijeron que muchas veces por tratar de llegar a sus hogares se cruzan los ríos crecidos, dejando resultados fatales.

Robleto era originaria de la comunidad San Ramón número 2, donde fue enterrada por sus familiares.

A woman died drowned in La Cruz de Rio Grande

Mercedes Robleto, 40, was drowned when she was dragged by the currents while trying to cross the Siawás pipe, in the municipality of La Cruz de Río Grande, in the South Caribbean.

Witnesses said the rivers had grown due to the rains that fell last Monday and Tuesday, as a result of a meteorological phenomenon that left rainfall in much of the country.

Witnesses said that many times trying to reach their homes cross the swollen rivers, leaving fatal results.

Robleto was originally from the San Ramón community number 2, where she was buried by her relatives.
