Expertos no precisan zona de impacto de Tormenta Tropical “Iota”

El Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales informó este sábado que la Tormenta Tropical “Iota” se desplaza a siete kilómetros por hora con vientos de hasta 85 km/h en aguas del mar Caribe y que existe la incertidumbre donde podría alcanzar tierra el fenómeno climático. .

El director de Meteorología, ingeniero Marcio Baca, dijo que el fenómeno se continuará moviéndose hacia el oeste-suroeste un poco más, pero seguramente ya por la tarde comience a manifestar un movimiento más hacia el noroeste, es decir enrumbándose a costas del Caribe Norte de Nicaragua y que posiblemente incremente su velocidad de traslación.

“Estamos previendo que llegue a ser un huracán mayor al alcanzar las costas del Caribe”, dijo Baca.

Comenzamos a prepararnos para el nuevo fenómeno desde hace tres días, con videoconferencias con los Comupred y Cedepred de toda esa zona, que ya fue impactada por ETA y que puede ser afectada por IOTA, manifestó.

Tenemos que prepararnos para distintos escenarios, en los que estamos trabajando de manera preventiva, expresó.

Hizo énfasis en los fuertes vientos, las lluvias, las marejadas ciclónicas de hasta casi tres metros que provocará IOTA. Al respecto, comentó que ya se toman medidas con la navegación, y para prever las posibles inundaciones y deslizamientos.

Al menos 80 mil familias están en riesgo

El doctor González indicó que casi 80 mil familias pueden estar en riesgo en los municipios y comunidades ante este fenómeno, por lo que es fundamental identificar los puntos críticos por inundaciones, deslizamientos, porque de ellos se derivan las acciones preventivas, así como la preparación de albergues, ya que nos garantizará donde alojar a las familias.

Hemos venido trabajando en ello desde hace días, tendremos hoy nueva videoconferencia sobre las acciones puestas en práctica y las nuevas que deberán ejecutarse, comentó.

Señaló que se mantiene el monitoreo sistemático del fenómeno con el Ineter y los compañeros de los territorios, para prever las acciones de manera específica para cada municipio de acuerdo con su ubicación.

Ejemplo de ello se toman acciones determinadas en Waspam, donde están expuestos a las inundaciones del río Coco y en el litoral donde recibirán la llegada a tierra del huracán IOTA.

Se trabaja en todos los detalles para tomar las medidas específicas y concretas, están activamos los comités municipales porque están vigentes y se mantienen las alertas, puntualizó.

Destacó que como país hemos ganado en preparación para enfrentar el fenómeno en los próximos días.

También estamos informando a las familias para que pongan en práctica los planes familiares y comunitarios con acompañamiento de las autoridades de los lugares, para establecer las rutas de evacuación, los sitios a los que tienen que moverse, expresó.

Aseguró que es un trabajo que se hace para garantizar la seguridad de las familias.

En los albergues hay que garantizar las condiciones mínimas para las familias, manifestó, al tiempo que dijo que se continúa desarrollando el envío de recursos como frazadas, colchones para atender a las familias que deban ser desplazadas.

Brindamos las informaciones necesarias para que todos conozcan hora a hora lo que sucede y nadie se quede sin resguardarse, resaltó.

Ofrecemos recursos de apoyo con pangas, con camiones del Ejército para movilizar de forma segura a las familias que deben ponerse a resguardo, agregó.

Hacemos una vigilancia con el Ineter del fenómeno y seguimos los pasos que hay que dar con la dirección de Hidrología para vigilar niveles de los ríos y prever inundaciones, deslizamientos; también vigilamos las comunidades que se encuentran en la ruta del fenómeno para proceder a su evacuación y resguardo, afirmó.
