34 años del cobarde ataque a las Minas Omar Mercado herido sale del hospital y repelió el ataque y ofrendo su vida

Heberto Jarquín Manzanares, es uno de los sobrevivientes del cobarde ataque a las Minas el 20 de diciembre 1987, cuando el gobierno norteamericano intento tomarse las minas, pero fue repelido por valientes milicianos, miembros del Ejercito popular Sandinista y del ministerio del Interior en Siuna, Rosita y Bonanza, en el Caribe Norte.

Uno de los héroes y mártires que defendió el ataque, fue Omar Mercado Silva un miliciano con grado de teniente que fue herido en la pierna y llevado al hospital, pero su valentía era tan grande que herido salió del hospital y se fue a seguir combatiendo a la contra y entrego su vida, hoy su familia recuerda con dolor ese episodio de la historia de Siuna.

De acuerdo a sobrevivientes del ataque, en Siuna había como 120 hombres entre milicianos, permanentes y del Ministerio del Interior que defendieron la ciudad, ese día quemaron los radares y se tomaron algunos lugares, pero llegaron refuerzos desde Martha Lorena, donde estaba en un batallón, pero también una caravana que viajaba a Rosita hacia PROFONUCSA, llevaba escoltas y ellos también reforzaron a los milicianos en Siuna para repeler la agresión militar.

Rosita se preparo desde un día antes y allí se preparaban para defenderse del ataque, estaban esperando a la contra allí los héroes que defendieron el ataque fueron José Antonio López, Andrés Artola, Ramon Rivas, Guillermo López Polanco, Carmelo Valle Peralta, Epifanio Granados Guillen, José Luis Gutiérrez, José Miguel Martínez, Andrés Hernández Mendoza, Leonel Velásquez Smith, Gabino Godínez, Efraín Álvarez, Arsenio Torres Jirón y Daniel Martínez.

En Bonanza los Héroes y Mártires que defendieron él ataque scon sus vidas fueron Moisés Octavio Pineda Angulo, Roberto Antonio Sevilla, Cesar Augusto Castillo Ramírez, Richard Sevilla, José Antonio darse, Pompilio Acosta, Erick Yalin Pineda Vargas, Miguel Martínez, Julio Castro Gonzales, Hans Sebastián Maclean, Ramon Humberto Castellón Matey, Reynaldo Reyes Morris y Juan de Dios Chavarría,  

En Siuna, Omar Mercado Silva, Juan Francisco Rodas Corea, Francisco Alfaro Borge, Francisco Antonio Martínez Cantillano, Estela Rodríguez y Fermín Hunter Mendoza.

La contra quería dar un golpe de fuerza porque se acercaba las negociaciones de paz Sapoa, y querían con la toma de las minas tener más posiciones de poder para negociar, pero estos Héroes y Martínez y centenares de héroes anónimos que se pararon con firmeza a repeler el ataque que les impidió tener éxito a la contra.
