Varias universidades de EEUU interesadas en basquetbolista Norchad Omier

Más de 32 universidades estarían interesadas en adquirir los servicios en el pívot pinolero Norchad Omier tras haber ingresado a finales de marzo al Portal de Transferencias de la NCAA.

“Después de finalizar la temporada con Arkansas, Norchad llamó a mí persona y Pillín Álvarez, en ese momento pensando en su futuro tomó la decisión de entrar al Portal de Tranferencias. La sorpresa fue que en 24 horas teníamos 22 ofertas; han ido creciendo en estos días hasta 32″ afirmó el mentor del joven basquetbolista, Wesley Savery.

Detalló que entre las opciones hay tres que destacan por sus entrenadores, entre ellos. estuvieron tres miembros del salón de la fama del baloncesto  Bob Huggins coach de la Universidad de West Virginia, Patrick Ewing leyenda de los Knicks y entrenador de la Universidad de Georgetown y John Calipari histórico coach de la Univesidad de Kentucky.

“La decisión será de Norchad, pero nosotros queremos que su decisión no sea emocional; sino piense bien donde va a jugar más y con qué institución podrá desarrollarse para llegar a la NBA. En mi opinión Huggins, Ewing y Calipari son los que pueden ayudar a cumplir el sueño de Norchad; sin embargo, otras que me gustaron están Kansas State y Wake Forest”, aseguró Savery.

Pilín Álvarez fue el entrenador de Norchad Omier en Miami Prep School de 2019 hasta el 2020 y fue una persona clave en el aterrizaje del costeño en la Universidad de Arkansas State.

“Esto de Norchad ha sido una cosa muy especial, estamos hablando con universidades High Major, las presentaciones han sido increíbles y Norchad está buscando un programa que lo siga desarrollando. Las llamadas siguen, todos los días están llegando solicitudes de 4 a 7 universidades, pero esto es un proceso y Norchad está en el momento para decidir cuáles van a ser las universidades que va a visitar, señaló.

“La decisión de las visitas las va a tomar Norchad y estamos trabajando junto a Wesley para darle toda la información que necesita para asegurarnos que tenga la oportunidad de jugar 30 a 35 minutos como una primera opción del equipo, quienes están en el roster, a quienes están reclutando. Esta experiencia para mí ha sido única y estoy orgulloso de él. Hay 3 entrenadores Salón de la Fama tirando la casa por la ventana para tener a Omier”, finalizó.

Durante la intervención de Patrick Ewing de acuerdo con Wesley Savery, la leyenda de la NBA mostró una gran conexión con Norchad Omier.

“Muchacho eres uno de los basquetbolistas al que más emociona ver jugar, lo sabías”, dijo Ewing a Omier.

Omier dejó buenos números la pasada campaña con Arkansas State al registar 20 dobles-dobles en 28 partidos disputados, promediando 17,9 puntos y 12,2 rebotes. Además de ganar distinciones en la Conferencia Sunt Bell entre ellas Jugador Defensivo del Año y Jugador del Año para dicha conferencia antes mencionadas.

Several US universities interested in basketball player Norchad Omier

He explained that among the options there are three that stand out for his coaches, among them. Three members of the basketball hall of fame were Bob Huggins, coach of the University of West Virginia, Patrick Ewing, legend of the Knicks and coach of Georgetown University, and John Calipari, historical coach of the University of Kentucky.

“The decision will be up to Norchad, but we want his decision not to be emotional; but think carefully where he is going to play more and with which institution he will be able to develop to reach the NBA. In my opinion Huggins, Ewing and Calipari are the ones who can help make Norchad’s dream come true; however, others that I liked are Kansas State and Wake Forest”, said Savery.

Pilín Álvarez was Norchad Omier’s coach at Miami Prep School from 2019 to 2020 and was a key person in the landing of the coastal man at Arkansas State University.

“This Norchad thing has been a very special thing, we are talking to High Major universities, the presentations have been incredible and Norchad is looking for a program to continue developing it. The calls continue, applications are coming in every day from 4 to 7 universities, but this is a process and Norchad is at the moment to decide which universities to visit, he said.

“The decision on the visits is going to be made by Norchad and we are working with Wesley to give him all the information he needs to make sure he has the opportunity to play 30 to 35 minutes as a first choice for the team, who are on the roster, to who are recruiting. This experience for me has been unique and I am proud of him. There are 3 Hall of Fame coaches throwing the house out the window to have Omier, ”he concluded.

During Patrick Ewing’s intervention according to Wesley Savery, the NBA legend showed a great connection with Norchad Omier.

«Boy, you’re one of the most exciting basketball players to watch, you know that,» Ewing told Omier.

Omier left good numbers last season with Arkansas State by recording 20 double-doubles in 28 games played, averaging 17.9 points and 12.2 rebounds.
