Productores de Bluefields intercambian experiencias sobre cultivo de cacao en Nueva Guinea

Un grupo grande de caribeños indígenas, creoles y mestizos de Bluefields, arribaron a Nueva Guinea éste fin de semana, para participar de un intercambio con expertos productores de Cacao, que integran Cooperativas que se dedican al cultivo, cosecha y producción con valorar agregado de ese rubro, en Nueva Guinea Region Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Sur.

Son 60 beneficiarios de dos Proyectos de Cacao, de unas 300 manzanas que se ejecutan en Tik tik Kaanu, Santa Elisa, Sumu Kaat, Rama Cay, Monkey Point, entre otras comunidades del Territorio Rama Kriol, al sur de Bluefields, los que participaron en el intercambio.

Los protagonistas junto a técnicos de la Secretaría de Producción, Industria y Comercio del Gobierno Regional Caribe Sur, visitaron el acopio de cacao de la Unión de Cooperativas de Cacao de Nueva Guinea y una finca en Nuevo León, para conocer el manejo del cacao desde el acopio, fermentado y secado, así como el manejo de plagas y enfermedades, diseño y densidad de siembra y variedad de cacao.

Con los nuevos conocimientos en el Intercambio en Nueva Guinea, se espera que los productores de Bluefields puedan mejorar sus Sistemas Agrícolas Diversificados, con Enfoque de Género y Adaptación al Cambio Climático, Proyectos que están en Marcha a través del Gobierno Regional, con apoyo del MEFCCA y con recursos del Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica BCIE.

Bluefields producers exchange experiences on cocoa cultivation in New Guinea

A large group of Caribbean natives, Creole and mestizo from Bluefields, arrived in New Guinea this weekend, to participate in an exchange with expert cocoa producers, who are Cooperatives that are dedicated to cultivation, harvesting and production with added value of that item, in the New Guinea Autonomous Region of the South Caribbean Coast.

There are 60 beneficiaries of two Cocoa Projects, of about 300 blocks that are executed in Tik tik Kaanu, Santa Elisa, Sumu Kaat, Rama Cay, Monkey Point, among other communities in the Rama Kriol Territory, south of Bluefields, who participated in the exchange.

The protagonists, together with technicians from the Secretariat of Production, Industry and Commerce of the Regional Government of the South Caribbean, visited the cocoa collection of the Union of Cocoa Cooperatives of New Guinea and a farm in Nuevo León, to learn about the management of cocoa from the storing, fermenting and drying, as well as the management of pests and diseases, design and planting density and variety of cocoa.

With the new knowledge in the Exchange in New Guinea, it is expected that Bluefields producers can improve their Diversified Agricultural Systems, with a Gender Focus and Adaptation to Climate Change, Projects that are underway through the Regional Government, with the support of the MEFCCA and with resources from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration BCIE.
