Jóvenes nicaragüenses reciben beca Erasmus de la Unión Europea

 Seis jóvenes nicaragüenses que viajarán próximamente a Europa para iniciar sus estudios de maestría en prestigiosas universidades, gracias al programa de becas Erasmus+ de la Unión Europea (UE), fueron felicitados personalmente y sostuvieron un conversatorio con el Embajador de la UE en Nicaragua, Pelayo Castro Zuzuárregui.

Estos nuevos becarios se unen a los más de 270 jóvenes nicaragüenses beneficiados por Erasmus en los últimos 13 años. En su reunión con el Embajador Pelayo Castro, esta nueva generación reconoció que enfrenta muchos desafíos a nivel nacional e internacional, pero a la vez destacaron que emprenden su viaje con una maleta llena de sueños y expectativas: Desarrollar la educación superior y la investigación, aprovechar las oportunidades comerciales entre la UE y Centroamérica, contribuir con el cuido del medio ambiente, crear políticas públicas para las poblaciones más vulnerables, promover puentes y una cultura de tolerancia y diversidad, aprender del modelo de integración europea, abrirse a nuevas corrientes de pensamiento y luchar contra la violencia a la mujer.

“El coronavirus no frena ni nuestras becas Erasmus ni la ambición de los estudiantes nicaragüenses. Es un honor presentar oficialmente, conocer y aprender del nuevo grupo de becarios Erasmus de Nicaragua. Todos estos jóvenes tienen un currículum impresionante y un futuro prometedor. Su calidad académica y perseverancia les ha permitido ganar entre miles de candidatos la oportunidad de seguir creciendo no sólo a nivel profesional, sino a nivel personal. Juntos por Nicaragua seguimos tendiendo puentes y abriendo mentes a través de la educación, la cultura y la diversidad,”, dijo el Embajador Pelayo Castro.

El grupo de becarios Erasmus 2020 está compuesto por Zugania Zúniga, Alex Castellón Meyrat, Juan Úbeda Mejía, Adrianova Carrión Falla, Igor Úbeda Montenegro y Alejandra Vanegas Cedeño. Ellos realizarán sus estudios en diferentes universidades europeas de Austria, Bélgica, Francia, Finlandia y Holanda, entre otros países europeos.

“Me describo como una joven profesional, con capacidad de liderazgo, con alto sentido de la justicia y compromiso social. Me apasiona la educación, como un medio para alcanzar el Desarrollo Humano Sostenible y construir una sociedad más justa e inclusiva”, expresó Adrianova Carrión Falla, quien cursará en Austria una Maestría en Investigación e Innovación de la Educación Superior.

Juan Úbeda Mejía estudiará en Holanda una Maestría en Derecho Económico y tiene altas expectativas sobre la formación académica que recibirá. “Al finalizar mis estudios seré un especialista en análisis de mercados, regulación económica y políticas de fomento a la competencia. Todos estos temas son de mucha relevancia en el contexto de integración económica Centroamericana que la Unión Europea está ayudando a impulsar, así como para el Acuerdo de Asociación entre ambas regiones que pretende aumentar el comercio e inversiones”, manifestó el joven becario.

Erasmus+ es el programa europeo de becas con mayor impacto en el mundo. Cada año acoge a más de 400 mil estudiantes de diversas partes del mundo, con un presupuesto que entre 2014 -2020 es de casi 15 mil millones de euros.

Estimular la inserción laboral es fundamental

A inicios del 2020, la UE presentó los resultados del programa Erasmus+ en Nicaragua, durante un encuentro con más de 70 gerentes de gestión humana de empresas de exportación, comercio, industria, servicios, entre otros sectores, agencias de empleo y universidades.

El encuentro sirvió como punto de partida para intercambiar ideas sobre posibles alianzas e iniciativas conjuntas entre la UE, universidades y el sector privado, con el fin de estimular la inserción laboral de los ex becarios Erasmus+, una vez que culminen sus estudios en Europa.

En la actividad también asistieron directivos de la Asociación de Ejecutivos de Recursos Humanos de Nicaragua (AERHNIC), cámaras europeas-nicaragüenses y del Consejo Superior de la Empresa Privada (COSEP).

Nicaraguan youth receive an Erasmus grant from the European Union

 Six young Nicaraguans who will soon travel to Europe to start their master’s studies at prestigious universities, thanks to the Erasmus + scholarship program of the European Union (EU), were personally congratulated and held a discussion with the EU Ambassador in Nicaragua, Pelayo Castro Zuzuárregui.

These new scholarship recipients join the more than 270 young Nicaraguans who have benefited from Erasmus in the last 13 years. In their meeting with Ambassador Pelayo Castro, this new generation recognized that they face many challenges at the national and international level, but at the same time they highlighted that they embark on their journey with a suitcase full of dreams and expectations: Develop higher education and research, take advantage of trade opportunities between the EU and Central America, contribute to caring for the environment, create public policies for the most vulnerable populations, promote bridges and a culture of tolerance and diversity, learn from the European integration model, open up to new currents of thought and fight violence against women.

“The coronavirus does not stop our Erasmus scholarships or the ambition of Nicaraguan students. It is an honor to officially present, meet and learn from the new group of Erasmus scholars from Nicaragua. All of these young people have impressive résumés and promising futures. Their academic quality and perseverance have allowed them to win the opportunity among thousands of candidates to continue growing not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level. Together for Nicaragua we continue to build bridges and open minds through education, culture and diversity, ”said Ambassador Pelayo Castro.

The group of Erasmus 2020 scholarship recipients is made up of Zugania Zúniga, Alex Castellón Meyrat, Juan Úbeda Mejía, Adrianova Carrión Falla, Igor Úbeda Montenegro and Alejandra Vanegas Cedeño. They will carry out their studies in different European universities in Austria, Belgium, France, Finland and Holland, among other European countries.

Juan Úbeda Mejía will study in the Netherlands for a Master in Economic Law and has high expectations about the academic training he will receive. “At the end of my studies I will be a specialist in market analysis, economic regulation and policies to promote competition. All these issues are highly relevant in the context of Central American economic integration that the European Union is helping to promote, as well as for the Association Agreement between the two regions that aims to increase trade and investment, «said the young fellow.

Erasmus + is the European scholarship program with the greatest impact in the world. Every year it welcomes more than 400 thousand students from different parts of the world, with a budget that between 2014 -2020 is almost 15 billion euros.

Stimulating job placement is essential

At the beginning of 2020, the EU presented the results of the Erasmus + program in Nicaragua, during a meeting with more than 70 human management managers from export companies, commerce, industry, services, among other sectors, employment agencies and universities.

The meeting served as a starting point to exchange ideas on possible alliances and joint initiatives between the EU, universities and the private sector, in order to stimulate the labor insertion of former Erasmus + scholarship holders, once they have completed their studies in Europe.

Directors of the Nicaraguan Association of Human Resources Executives (AERHNIC), European-Nicaraguan chambers and the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (COSEP) also attended the activity.
