Distrito naval asegura seguridad y protección a mercantes y flota pesquera en el Caribe
En una semana efectivos militares, unidades de superficie, capitanías de puerto y puestos de control de embarcaciones del Distrito Naval Caribe de la Fuerza Naval del Ejército de Nicaragua, brindaron protección y seguridad a 4 buques mercantes con 234.335 toneladas métricas de mercadería de importación y 494.937 toneladas métricas de mercadería de exportación; además, se atendió a 2 buques tanque con 9 barriles de diésel y 1,290 barriles de gasolina.
También, se atendieron 25 barcos de cabotaje con 356.83 toneladas métricas de mercadería con destino a los puertos de El Bluff, Cayos Miskitos, Bluefields y Corn Island.
De igual manera, se brindó cobertura, seguridad y recepción a 101 barcos de la flota pesquera industrial, que arribaron a los puertos de Corn Island y El Bluff, se realizaron 2 controles a los Dispositivos Exclusores de Tortugas (TED’s), contribuyendo a la producción de 208,517 libras de producto marino entre pescado, langosta y camarón.
Durante las recepciones y despachos de estas embarcaciones, se emplearon 36 efectivos militares, 2 guardacostas, 3 lanchas rápidas y 2 lanchas auxiliares. Asimismo, los efectivos militares cumplieron con las medidas de protección orientadas por el Ministerio de Salud (MINSA), para prevenir el contagio de la COVID-19.
La Fuerza Naval como parte del Comité Nacional de Seguridad Marítimo Portuaria y protección de buques, continúa apoyando a las instituciones involucradas para mantener el estatus de puertos seguros, brindar protección a la flota pesquera y contribuir a la economía nacional.

Naval district ensures security and protection to merchants and fishing fleet in the Caribbean
In one week, military personnel, surface units, port captains and vessel control posts of the Caribbean Naval District of the Nicaraguan Army Naval Force, provided protection and security to 4 merchant ships with 234,335 metric tons of imported merchandise and 494,937 metric tons of export merchandise; in addition, 2 tankers were served with 9 barrels of diesel and 1,290 barrels of gasoline.
Also, 25 cabotage vessels with 356.83 metric tons of merchandise were attended to the ports of El Bluff, Miskitos Cays, Bluefields and Corn Island.
Similarly, coverage, security and reception were provided to 101 ships of the industrial fishing fleet, which arrived at the ports of Corn Island and El Bluff, 2 controls were carried out on the Turtle Exclusion Devices (TED’s), contributing to the production of 208,517 pounds of marine product including fish, lobster and shrimp.
During the receptions and dispatches of these boats, 36 military personnel, 2 coast guards, 3 speedboats and 2 auxiliary boats were used. Likewise, the military personnel complied with the protection measures directed by the Ministry of Health (MINSA), to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Naval Force, as part of the National Committee for Maritime Port Security and ship protection, continues to support the institutions involved to maintain the status of safe ports, provide protection to the fishing fleet and contribute to the national economy.
