Paiwas será sede por primera vez en las series del Caribe
El municipio de Paiwas, pertenece a la Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Sur, pero políticamente es atendida por el Triángulo Minero por su mayor cercanía que el Caribe Sur, este año será la sede de la edición numero 70 de las series del Caribe, una fiesta deportiva que se vive cada año en el Caribe Nicaragüense.
La fiesta beisbolera no se ha detenido a pesar de los huracanes y las guerras, una tradición que se ha mantenido con el pasar de los años, que viene a unir a los equipos de la Costa Caribe Norte y Sur.
Los municipios como Prinzapolka, Paiwas, Mulukuku han tenido ya la oportunidad de disfrutar de una serie caribeña, en años anteriores Prinzapolka cedía la sede a Rosita o Siuna por falta de recursos, pero en el 2018 la alcaldesa Prodelina Bob con el respaldo del Gobierno de Nicaragua, gobierno regional y la Asociación departamental de beisbol logro realizar la serie en Alamikamba.
Las representaciones por el Caribe Norte, Puerto Cabezas con 19 títulos ganados, Rosita con 5, Siuna con 3, Bonanza con 3, Waspam con 1, Mulukuku con 1, Prinzapolka 0.
Caribe Sur: Bluefields con 26 títulos ganados es el líder, Corn Island con 5, Laguna de Perlas con 4, Kukra Hill con 1, Karawala con 1, La Cruz de Rio Grande, El Tortuguero y Paiwas.
El sistema de competencias se modificó, ya que antes todos jugaban contra todos y la serie se extendía por 15 días, siendo muy agotador para todo los peloteros y los organizadores de cada evento.
La modificación se hizo realizada en Bluefields donde se aplico por primera vez el sistema de competencias que se tiene actualmente donde juegan en dos grupos y luego los ganadores de cada grupo van a muerte súbita para ir a la gran final.
Este sistema fue cuestionado fuertemente cuando Mulukuku que llego invicto a la muerte súbita y fue eliminado lo que dejo un sabor amargo, sin embargo, el sistema ha venido funcionando y la serie se hizo mas corta a 8 a 10 días.
Hay algunos que consideran que aun se debe revisar el sistema de competencias y que todos los equipos lleguen a la serie y se hagan los dos grupos que sean uno del norte y el otro del sur, donde de juegue todos contra todos, y los cuatro mejores pasen a la semifinal y luego a la final.
Algunos no aceptan este sistema porque estiman que los del norte deben enfrentarse con los del sur, sin embargo, para eso debería hacer un esfuerzo para llegar a enfrentarse con los mejor de cada región con cuatro u ocho equipos.
Actualmente el grupo A esta conformado por Laguna de Perlas, Puerto Cabezas, Corn Island, El Tortuguero, Prinzapolka, Rosita y Waspam en tanto el grupo B lo integran
Siuna, Bluefields, Kukra Hill, Mulukuku, Paiwas, Karawala, Bonanza y La Cruz de Rio Grande.
LAS SERIES DEL ATLANTICO
De acuerdo con datos del libro escrito por mi amigo Carlos Gonzales Gonzales un destacado cronista deportivo de Puerto Cabezas que en paz descanse, indica que en el mes de mayo de 1952, se pusieron en marcha las Series del Atlántico, cuando un grupo de promotores deportivos encabezados por Don Alex Narváez, Tito Tejada, Sebastián Arana, don Francisco Morales, don Francisco Pinell y otros, coincidieron la idea de realizar juegos entre lso equipos campeones de los municipios, y según el libro de actas, a estas series se les denominará “Series del Atlántico” y a las sesiones “Congresillos Deportivos”.
A partir de ese año, las series se han venido desarrollando de manera ininterrumpida, gracias al esfuerzo tesonero de las federaciones locales, deportistas, empresas y Gobiernos Regionales.
La primera serie contó con la participación de cuatro equipos: Bluefields, Puerto Cabezas, Siuna y Bonanza, habiendo resultado campeón el equipo de casa Puerto Cabezas.
Ya para el año 1954, en la III serie se incorporó Karawala. Participó también en la IV Serie, pero luego se retiró por problemas económicos.
El equipo de Rama participó durante la V Serie verificada en Bluefields en 1956, se retiró en el año 1959, luego regresó para la XXIV Serie del Atlántico efectuada en Bonanza en 1975, hasta su retiro en 1983. No se ha reincorporado nuevamente.
Nueva Guinea se incorporó en la XXIV Serie efectuada en Bonanza en 1975. Se retiró de las series en 1983. Karawala reingresó para la XXXIX Serie en Bluefields en 1990. El equipo más nuevo de los de las series es Kukra Hill. Se incorporó en el año 1983.

Paiwas will host for the first time in the Caribbean series
The municipality of Paiwas, belongs to the Autonomous Region of the South Caribbean Coast, but politically it is served by the Mining Triangle due to its greater proximity than the South Caribbean, this year it will host the 70th edition of the Caribbean series, a sports festival that takes place every year in the Nicaraguan Caribbean.

South Caribbean: Bluefields with 26 titles won is the leader, Corn Island with 5, Laguna de Perlas with 4, Kukra Hill with 1, Karawala with 1, La Cruz de Rio Grande, El Tortuguero and Paiwas.
The competition system was modified, since before everyone played against everyone and the series lasted 15 days, being very exhausting for all the players and the organizers of each event.
The modification was made in Bluefields where the current competition system was applied for the first time where they play in two groups and then the winners of each group go to sudden death to go to the grand final.
This system was strongly questioned when Mulukuku who arrived undefeated to sudden death and was eliminated which left a bitter taste, however, the system has been working and the series was shortened to 8 to 10 days.
There are some who believe that the competition system must still be reviewed and that all teams reach the series and make the two groups that are one from the north and the other from the south, where everyone plays against everyone, and the best four go to the semifinal and then to the final.
Some do not accept this system because they believe that those from the north must face those from the south, however, for that, they should make an effort to get to face the best of each region with four or eight teams.
Currently group A is made up of Laguna de Perlas, Puerto Cabezas, Corn Island, El Tortuguero, Prinzapolka, Rosita and Waspam while group B is made up
Siuna, Bluefields, Kukra Hill, Mulukuku, Paiwas, Karawala, Bonanza and La Cruz de Rio Grande.
THE ATLANTIC SERIES
