Grandes hombres navegan a diario todo el rio Coco o Wangki que les permite tener conocer cada uno del recorrido desde Wiwili hasta Waspam y de allí hasta Cabo Gracias a Dios, uno de esos grandes navegantes es Francisco Solano Gonzales de 70 años que lleva 30 años navegando sobre el Wangki.

Los ancestros Miskitos y Mayangnas navegaron ese rio con balsas y remos, pero poco a poco eso fue cambiando hasta llegar a nuestros tiempos, en que muchas familias tienen sus propios motores fuera de bordad para movilizarse en su bató, así como pequeñas embarcaciones pasando por los peligrosos raudales que son en total once.

De acuerdo a Don Francisco Solano Gonzales Dixon, el capitán de estas embarcaciones debe tener un buen pobrero, el probero es una persona que va en la punta del bote, viendo que no se va a topar con una piedra y medir la profundidad del agua, pero además un buen motor bien revisado que no le vaya a fallar y no montar mucha carga en la embarcación.

El sabio en navegación dijo que si lleva carga debe tener mucho cuidado al navegar y evitar pegar en una piedra, sobre todo al pasar por los raudales, uno de los raudales que son más peligrosos es el Kiuhra el más temido en la zona.

“El rio no es muy hondo, en algunas partes hay troncos, piedras, hay unas piedras que nos e pueden ver y a veces uno pega en ellas, el capitán tiene que estar pendiente de eso, para nosotros eso son los baches y debemos tener mucho cuidado en la navegación por que el que no conoce llegan a chocar con las piedras” afirmó el capitán Solano Gonzales.

Por su parte Efraín Peralta Tercero, Director de Agricultura de URACCAN, dijo que estos recursos naturales deben ser protegidos y sobre esa línea hay que trabajar con las comunidades miskitas y mayangnas de Alto Wangki y Bocay.

En tanto Aidalina Balladares Berroteran, docente de URACCAN dijo que llegar al Alto Wangki y Bocay y llegar al raudal de Kiuhra, es una experiencia inolvidable.
