La región del Caribe de Nicaragua se ha convertido en poco tiempo en la zona de producción ganadera y se estima que el 40 por ciento de la producción de ganado se produce en el Caribe nicaragüense.

Así lo informó el titular del Ministerio Agropecuario, Edward Centeno, en un encuentro realizado en Siuna con productores de la región.

El titular del MAG dijo que en esta zona hay 710 mil cabezas de ganado y 170 mil vacas que se ordeñan, las que producen 584 mil litros de leche.

Centeno aseguró que 423 mil litros al día se entregan en los diferentes acopios de leche que hay en la región y se consumen 3 mil 554 litros de leche, pero pasan un proceso de trasformación 157 mil 805 litros que se convierten en cuajada, queso y mantequilla, dejando recursos importantes a la región y el país.

Producto de la actividad ganadera en la región caribeña el titular del MAG estima que sólo por producción de leche se generan 3 millones 7290 mil córdobas que representan 55 millones de dólares al año solo en este rubro.

El ministro destacó la importancia de la infraestructura productiva, que se ha venido construyendo desde el Gobierno central y los Gobiernos locales lo que ha permitido el avance y el desarrollo de la producción.

El ministro Edward Centeno ofreció estos datos durante un encuentro con productores y autoridades de la región en Siuna durante la presentación de la Evaluación y Avance de las Estrategias Productivas en el Sector Minero, Prinzapolka, Mulukuku y Paiwás.

Nicaragua’s livestock production increases in the Caribbean
