Wilmer Torrez González, de 30 años, murió de un infarto al corazón, cuando la Policía Civil de Costa Rica lo persiguió al ser sorprendido en actividades de explotación ilegal de oro en Crucitas, Costa Rica, el pasado 5 de diciembre del 2019.

Torres González, salió de Siuna junto con otros seis compañeros en busca del precisado metal, pero cuando estaban en labores de extracción ilegal fueron sorprendidos por la Policía Civil de Costa Rica, por lo que todos salieron corriendo.

Wilmer Torres, no soportó y les dijo a sus compañeros que se sentía mal y no podía seguir, aquellos lo dejaron abandonado y huyeron del lugar.

Los seis amigos de Wilmer regresaron a Siuna. Los familiares al ver que no regresaba comenzaron a preocuparse y les pidieron a tres del grupo que fueran a enseñarles dónde lo habían abandonado, comentó Iracela Torres familiar de la víctima.

El papá de Wilmer Torres salió de Siuna, rumbo a Crucitas en Costa Rica en busca de su hijo, sus compañeros lo llevaron hasta el lugar donde lo habían abandonado y fue allí donde comenzó la búsqueda.

Wilmer con problemas de su corazón logró pasar un río y se escondió en una parte montañosa donde fue sorprendido por un infarto, ya que fue encontrado sentado con las mando hacia arriba como orando a Dios para que no fuera encontrado por la guardia Civil de Costa Rica.

Su papá lo encontró ya sin vida, seis días después de haber fallecido producto del infarto. «Decimos que fue infarto porque no tenía heridas de balas, mordidas de serpiente, ni nada”, comentó su hermana Iracela.

De allí lograron sacar el cuerpo de Wilmer por puntos ciegos en la frontera sur con Costa Rica, ya que de haber sido encontrados por la Policía de ese país hubieran obligado a enterrarlo en aquel suelo.

Su hermana lamenta que sus compañeros lo hayan dejado abandonado.

“Yo no quiero ver a ninguno de ellos en mí casa, les dije que se fueran porque no fueron capaces de ayudarle y más bien lo dejaron abandonado”, comentó Irasema Torres.

Wilmer Torres González fue velado en Siuna la noche de este miércoles y este jueves fue sepultado en el cementerio Monte Sinaí de Siuna.

En Crucitas hay centenares de personas realizando la actividad de explotación ilegal de oro, se exponen al peligro de ser atacados por un animal salvaje, picados pos culebras o ser detenidos por la policía de Costa Rica, ya que en ese lugar está prohibido realizar actividad de minería artesanal.

Siuneño died of heart attack in search of gold in Costa Rica

Wilmer Torrez González, 30, died of a heart attack, when the Costa Rican Civil Police pursued him when he was caught in illegal gold exploitation activities in Crucitas, Costa Rica, on December 5, 2019.

Torres González, left Siuna along with six other companions in search of the precise metal, but when they were in illegal extraction work they were surprised by the Civil Police of Costa Rica, so they all ran away.

Wilmer Torres, could not stand and told his teammates that he felt bad and could not continue, those left him abandoned and fled the place.

Wilmer’s six friends returned to Siuna. The relatives, seeing that he was not returning, began to worry and asked three of the group to go show them where they had abandoned him, said Iracela Torres, a relative of the victim.

Wilmer Torres’ father left Siuna, heading to Crucitas in Costa Rica in search of his son, his companions took him to the place where he had been abandoned and that was where the search began.

Wilmer with problems of his heart managed to pass a river and hid in a mountainous part where he was surprised by a heart attack, since he was found sitting with the command up as if praying to God so that he was not found by the Civil Guard of Costa Rica .

His father found him already lifeless, six days after he died of a heart attack. «We say he was a heart attack because he didn’t have bullet wounds, snake bites, or anything,» said his sister Iracela.

From there they managed to remove Wilmer’s body by blind spots on the southern border with Costa Rica, since if they had been found by the Police of that country they would have forced him to bury him in that ground.

His sister regrets that his companions have left him abandoned.

«I don’t want to see any of them in my house, I told them to leave because they were not able to help him and rather left him abandoned,» said Irasema Torres.

Wilmer Torres González was veiled in Siuna on Wednesday night and this Thursday he was buried in the Monte Sinaí cemetery of Siuna.

In Crucitas there are hundreds of people carrying out the activity of illegal exploitation of gold, they are exposed to the danger of being attacked by a wild animal, chopped post snakes or being detained by the Costa Rican police, since in that place it is prohibited to carry out artisanal mining.
